Running Club News 21/11/16

Friday 18th November

It was a beautiful morning and perfect for running in! It was great to see Sharon and Mandy back with the club from a short break too. The pair of them had some catching up to do, so a social run was in order around the 2.6mile lap. They both thoroughly enjoyed it though. Lisa was definitely not being social today, she set off on a mission, leaving everyone way behind straight from the off. She was determined to do the 5.9miles in under an hour, and she smashed it!! 57mins!! In doing so she set a new PB speed for herself too – 9m 42s per mile. Awesome, great run Lisa, well done!! Greg set off after her, but couldn’t keep up today, his 10m 51s average still impressive over that distance though. I ran with Joanne this morning, and a big thank you to her for dragging me round!! Her 10m 10s per mile was very good and consistent with recent weeks, well done and thank you. Same routes next week team!!

Monday 21st November

In organising this evenings running club I realised I had messed up on the route design, thankfully Charles had printed off some route maps for last week when he covered the session and so I embarrassingly used those to set up the team. Although they were Charles’ routes, he was the only one to go off-plan this evening. Not sure if it was to make me feel better or to take a short cut to catch Rich up. It worked on both counts though, as Charles was able to push Rich for the last mile to get him close to 10mins per mile. Well done gents!

It is always this time of year when the gadgets start coming out. This time round it seems headlights (literally) are the craze!! For a second I thought we were going mining not running this evening. Still, it is better to be safe! There were also some great new ankle and shoe lights on show this evening too. Only a matter of time before Charles dresses like a Xmas tree again!

Jo was back this evening and in need of a fast time, not because she is competitive, or because she wanted to improve her PB, but because she had ordered a Chinese and didn’t want it to get cold!! The incentive worked though as she smashed the 10m per mile barrier. I hope it was tasty!

Gemma and Louise ran the Gosport half marathon yesterday, but they were still here this evening and opting for the longest route! Great times too this evening ladies, well done!!

I ran with Carl this evening, the pre-run conversation about “Hooters” sounded interesting and required further explanation on the way round. Carl did well, not only to run 5.3miles after just returning from Vegas but to also keep a conversation going for the duration whilst running at 9m 17s per mile, well done Carl. Note to self – must visit Vegas!!

Greg had a great run this evening. Not sure why as the conditions are not Gregs best, however an awesome run saw him take off over 1 min per mile from his run on Friday!! Very quick Greg! Did you have a Chinese waiting too??

Nick and Alex were out front this evening and setting the pace well. Alex decided to put his foot down at the top of Barnes Road and he disappeared in to the night. Finishing in just 7m 33s per mile, Nick slip streamed for a while and did well to finish under 8m 29s per mile. Well done gentlemen.

Same routes (Charles’) next week for the final time.
