Running Club News 11/7/16

Friday 8th July

Well done to all the Friday Runners and a big thank you to Sharon for stepping in and looking after the group for the 2nd consecutive Friday. I will be back this Friday I promise. Sharon’s report –

Angela                  2.7 miles            32.37           12:05
Jo                         3.4 miles            36.12           10:38
Greg                     4.2  miles           43.35            10.23
Gemma                 5.4 miles            53:19            09:49
(Chester)
Angela was on a mission this morning and set off confidently to do the route that she likes resulting in a quicker pace with a feeling that she is feeling much better about her running and so she should! I saw her coming down Brook Lane and she was smiling … promoting our running club ethos!!
Jo did the slightly longer route but also looked very strong coming down Brook Lane. She is now in Cyprus so we won’t see her next week but she seemed very keen to emphasise to me that she would def be with us the following week! very keen with good running results.
Greg has been doing a different sporting activity every day so understandably on a Fri was suffering a little but we all said that we were glad to see him and that we knew he would put in a good effort.
Gemma had been celebrating the previous night plus has for sometime now been suffering with cold symptoms but Chester was, as always, ready to go!! Gemma set off with Greg at a great pace and maintained the pace even though she had a flat tyre enroute!!! Think Chester must have had too much porridge for breakfast!!
Monday 11th July
A big well done to Jo & Albe (the Labrador) this week. Having run non-stop last week the pair decided to up the distance. And they did awesome between the two of them – 2.2miles and over 2mins per mile quicker pace as well. Jo had said she is training him to keep running even with the distraction of interesting smells! Well I guess the fact that I wasn’t running next to him this week was one “interesting smell” less as a distraction. They ran with Sharon instead this week, maybe it was that smell that encouraged Albe to go much further and faster.
For the other runners it was the 3rd week on these routes and now familiar with them a chance to put in a good time. Leyon did just that, he did arrive 10 minutes late for the start of the club, maybe that was the incentive he needed to try and catch everyone up! He certainly did, finishing 16 seconds per mile quicker than last week. Well done Leyon!!
Sue was back this week after missing last weeks run, and she has been practicing on her own. It showed this evening as she completed the furthest route so far with the running club. Well done Sue and in a good time too.
Gemma had a heavy weekend and was more focused on returning some balance to her calories than a time this evening. She had a great run though, choosing to go for the maximum distance to get the maximum calorie burn!! And at 9 mins per mile I think the 5,7miles would have burnt quite a few Vodkas off,  hmmmm, I mean calories!!
Finally well done to Charlie, who whizzed round the short route very fast this evening just so she could be back in time to do Tabata at Enjoy Fitness Studio, I think she enjoyed the class too.
New routes next week team.
